Radisens® is expanding its consumable development team. This team develops proprietary microfluidics-based technology to run on its novel device platform. The successful candidate will demonstrate significant hands-on and theoretical microfluidic skills in Lab-on-Chip / Lab-on-CD applications, with experience in medical diagnostics a distinct advantage. This full-time position will be based in Cork, Ireland.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • As a leading member of Radisens’ consumable development team, you will design, prototype and validate novel microfluidics-based cartridges for existing and future point-of-care applications,
  • Work closely with Radisens’ device, application, assay development and software teams in a highly innovative and interactive environment,
  • Drive the expansion of Radisens’ R&D facility by defining, sourcing, installing and scaling laboratory instrumentation and rapid prototyping infrastructure,
  • Generate high quality technical reports, SOPs, invention disclosures and functional specifications,
  • Follow quality standards and best practices necessary for production test and regulatory approval,
  • Engage/support contract manufacturers in the transfer-to-manufacture process.

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelors/Masters or post-graduate degree in Mechanical / Microfluidic Engineering, or equivalent, with minimum 2 years of relevant industrial experience,
  • Solid mechanical engineering and/or microfluidics background with proven competence in designing, fabricating, and testing polymer-based devices,
  • 2D CAD (e.g., AutoCAD) and 3D CAD (e.g. ProEngineer/CREO) expertise,
  • Part fabrication, surface modification, and assembly using techniques such as precision machining, embossing, molding, plasma treatment, CVD, thermal-diffusion/solvent-assisted bonding, adhesives an advantage,
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and deadline-driven environment with an analytical approach to problem-solving,
  • A team player with a can-do attitude, an ability to motivate others and a strong passion for technology,
  • Experience of several of the following is highly desirable:
    • Design-for-manufacture and high-volume consumable manufacture,
    • Applications experience in immunoassay, biochemistry and/or molecular diagnostics assay development,
    • Hands-on experience with standard biology laboratory instrumentation (e.g. pipettes, consumables, plate readers, centrifuges, microscopes),
    • Experience with optical measurement techniques, materials and instruments (e.g. fluorescent dyes, turbidimetry, spectrophotometry),
    • Good experimental design and implementation experience,
  • Ability to thrive, innovate and deliver in an R&D start-up environment,
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with grounding in product development
